Integration of MES and Batch Systems with InfoCarrier® BOXI

Integration and connectivity between batch system and MES is a common use case in the industry. The challenge is the fast, agile realization of information flows across different system boundaries, even if the systems do not speak the same language.

The innovative InfoCarrier® BOXI developed by onoff enables data exchange and function calls between different systems via defined interfaces. This allows project engineers to concentrate on designing the systems, while communication takes place via a predefined channel. This results in enormous time savings, as project engineering can be carried out in both systems in parallel and waiting times are prevented.

Communication via standardized connectors

Best practice workflows for fast commissioning

Advantages of InfoCarrier® BOXI

A decisive advantage of InfoCarrier® BOXI is the connection to process control systems and MES from various manufacturers by using universal connectors. With predefined workflows, common best practice use cases, such as creating a batch or reading and writing parameters, can be implemented consistently with little effort. This saves manual input and ensures a significant reduction in errors. In addition, previously defined events can be transferred from the DCS to the MES and these events can be incorporated, for example, into the MBR modeling in the MES.

Using a workflow engine also allows customer-specific workflows to be implemented, enabling customized solutions for any communication application.

Technical Realization

  • Communication between DCS and MES of various manufacturers
    via standard interfaces
  • Demand-driven data exchange for all use cases
  • Reduced effort in modeling communication
  • After defining the information to be exchanged, decoupling of system project planning as far as possible
Application example: DCS and MES integration

Summary

InfoCarrier® BOXI efficiently integrates batch systems and MES for faster project planning and commissioning. At the same time, manual activities are reduced and possible causes of errors are minimized, resulting in increased quality. The modular system makes it possible to connect plants with various protocols. This means that existing plants can be equipped with future-proof IT interfaces.

Drawing on many years of experience in the field of machine and plant integration, we combine process knowledge and interface expertise. Therfore, we have ready-made best-practice solutions are already available for many use cases. If required, we develop specially customized connectors for individual needs, and always focused on the solution.
